MEET

BUBBLES

Bubbles is my 2023 Tesla Model 3.  I ordered Bubbles in November of 2022 from the inventory on Tesla's website.  There were a few things I was able to customize such as battery life (long range), color(blue), and auto drive features (standard).

Specs

Accelleration

0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds.  For an extra $2000, a software upgrade will make it accelerate faster.  I have no need for that.  For the most part, I keep Bubbles in "Chill" mode.  I only use "Standard" mode when in traffic or when passengers ask to feel how fast it accelerates.

Top Speed

162mph. I'm pretty sure the $2000 for faster acceleration also applies to the top speed.  Sorry, I know what you're thinking, and that is the only question I will not answer.

Dual Motor All Wheel Drive '

Tesla All-Wheel Drive has two independent motors for improved redundancy, each with only one moving part for minimal maintenance and maximum durability. Unlike traditional all-wheel drive systems, they digitally control torque to the front and rear wheels for far better handling and traction control.

I'm not a gear head, so I copy and pasted that from the Tesla website. All I can tell you is that is does great in the snow.  If you have any questions about horsepower, torque, suspension.... you'll have to look it up yourself.  To save you some time, I linked you to my Tesla referral page.   From there, you can find all the information you need.

Mileage

Bubbles has the  long range option.  The mileage varies, but its listed range for a complete charge is 350 miles.  Tesla's actually get better city mileage than highway.  This is due to regenerative braking.  If you look at the top of the car's screen, you'll notice a line that changes from green (charging) to white (draining) and back in conjuction  with power from the accelerator.  Tesla's rarely, if ever, require new brakes.  The only time I use mine is if I have to stop suddenly.  I use them so little, they squeak.  Every now and then I slam on them to loosen them up.

"How do you like your Tesla?"

"How do you like your Tesla?"

People always ask me, "How do you like your Tesla?".  My response is, "I don't like driving other cars anymore." I know, that seems kind of extreme, something some crazy fanatic would say, but I REALLY mean it.

This is the best way for me to explain it.  Imagine this.  You live in a city and you've been  driving a clutch your entire life. If you started driving an automatic transmission, would you ever want to drive a manual?

Cons

It would be a lot easier to tell you what I don't like about my Tesla, so I figured I would start there.  Wanna know what it is?  Actually, two things. First of all, there is not enough variation in wiper speed.  I like to fine tune my wiper speed.  In Oregon, that's an important thing.  The second thing, my paint chips near the bottom of the rear doors.  Apparently, that's a known problem and I should have purchased flaps when I bought the car.

-Don't feel bad if you had a little trouble figuring out the door handle.  You're not the only one.  I'd say about a third of the time, I have to wait on someone to figure it out.  I stopped reaching over because most people figure it out by the time I get to it.  Plus I think it makes people feel better to figure it out on their own.

What I love about my Tesla

-I hardly ever use the brake.  I  rarely have to switch pedals and  don't have to keep my foot on the brake at stoplights.  You also may have noticed how smooth the ride is without a lot of jerky braking.

-Speaking of smooth, have you ever noticed the gears changing?  If not, don't feel bad.  Neither have I.

-I can be in the car and driving in less than two seconds.  I have keys, but the last time I used one was the day I took the car home. With my phone in my pocket, I just walk up to the door, pop it open, hop in, (insert "put on seatbelt" for legal reasons) change gears, and drive.

-I often get asked, "Isn't that huge screen a distraction?".  Actually, it's way less distracting than the dozens of buttons surrounding the driver in other cars.  I have two buttons on my steering wheel.  I use them for just about everything I do while driving. I just push one and "Temperature 72" and the temperature changes.  I push the same button, "Wipers on", and in two seconds, my windshield is cleared.

-Two seconds.  This thing accelerates really quickly, and the reaction is instant.  When I step on the accelerator, it goes.  I don't have to step on the gas two seconds early to merge smoothly.

-People think it's sexy.
